Surfski Rentals

Price range: R300.00 through R750.00

Please complete an indemnity and medical form.

Rentals are charged per day and include a paddle and lifejacket if required.

There is a minimum ability requirement to rent a surfski unsupervised. If you are still learning we will require you to book a lesson instead.

Rental Conditions:

ABILITY:
  • You must have an Ocean ABC and Ocean Paddler Competency Certificate through the School or one of our affiliates.
  • Minimum of 5 lessons completed through the Surfski School.

If you’re not Surfski School qualified, then the following apply:

  1. Successfully catch and ride a wave on a surfski, backline to beach.
  2. Proficiently perform a beach launch and beach landing through the surf.
  3. Remount twice in under a minute.
  4. Paddle 10kms in under 70 minutes.

Proof of above ability levels will need to be provided by means of video or Strava/Garmin tracks. If you are not at this level of paddling, please book a standard daily session with one of our instructors.

PROXIMITY:

Our skis are paddled from Fish Hoek beach only. They are to remain in the vicinity unless you are doing a Millers run downwind or similar, pre-arranged with us.

Under no circumstances may the craft be loaded onto a vehicle and taken away to another venue.

Under no circumstances may the craft be taken away overnight. It must remain in the racks at the Fish Hoek Beach Sports Club overnight if you have rented for multiple days.

For travelling paddler race rentals, our surfskis are rented out for local, Cape Town based races only.

DAMAGES:

Any damages to the craft will be for the expense of the renter and liability for the repair or replacement of the rented surfski is taken by the renter. Any damages must be reported immediately so that the craft can be repaired.
